Next Steps

Ok- the money is in, I have been sent directions, scribbled in Nepalese to print off and give to a cab driver who will get me from the airport. So what's next?

I need a criminal background check from the Police Station to send to Umbrella

I need shots:
Hep A
Typhoid
Polio
Yellow Fever
Japanese Encephalitis
Hep B
Rabies
MMR
Tetanus/diphtheria

And Malaria meds I suppose. I thin k out of that list all I've gotten in recent years is MMR...I think.

Passport: getting the application tomorrow

And plane details! I'm flying via buddy pass so the plan is going to change a lot

Boom Goes the Dynamite

1020 Euros

Let's start packing! Tomorrow it is the offcial 6-months-until day one at Umbrella.

BIGBIGBIG thank you to George, Allison and Joseph for the final push!

Of course the page is still open and if you are so driven to, donate! Rumor has it that children are expensive. But for right now. For here and now- Goal number one has been reached and I couldn't have done it without you.

I couldn't find a picture of Gareth to show my feeling right now.
This is a Nepalese man who apparently heard I was coming!

Getting Closer

Thank you to Christen and Kelley! These ladies are two friends of mine working as part-time super models who have just pushed me closer to the goal! 22 Euros left to raise! Check your pockets...

Where is she going?! Let's ask Gareth.

Long time coming

Unbelievable that this blog has existed for six months and I have yet to express my cause or my progress. Well, seeing as I am a sucker for tradition- this also won't be an extremely detailed post, however there are some updates that need to be given.
Number one:
Fund Raising
I cannot begin to express my gratitude for those who have contributed to the Umbrella Foundation in my name. All I did was ask and unsurprisingly the kindness of friends, family and strangers has brought me so close to my goal. In 84$ (yep, dollars, not euros) I am as good as there. Some thanks are in order:
Brenda, Mimi, Jess, Grandma Judy, Bobby, Emma, Joseph, Sean, Christine, Cheryl, Nick and Joy, the whole Darnell Family, Cody (Is that everyone...?)
I am so humbled by your generosity and your belief in me. I won't let this go to waste.

Number 2:
In two days it is officially the 6-month till GO time count down! And by go time I mean Day one in Nepal, at Umbrella. Since I am flying standby- (ah and thank you to JULIE AND HER MAMA) which makes for 1.) more adventures, 2.) more interesting posts, and 3.) a more unpredictable timeline so it'll be less than 6 months before I leave and the fun begins. Airport hopping, talking to strangers, taking candy from them, and so on-ALSO I guess I'll start actually blogging - get you all hooked so that you're part of the journey. For the next few months it may ramble into my personal life/politics/opinions/embarrassing stories/college coed anecdotes so...stay tuned (namaste tuned). The Nepal news will come too- passport anticipation, meeting volunteers via FB, brainstorming, updates on Umbrella, NGN and Nepal in general, and getting painful shots in my ass to keep me disease free, etc etc etc

And feedback would be nice. This is to entertain- but mostly to inform. Questions, inspiration, criticism welcome.

The picture is not of me. It is of my brother falling out of a chair. I didn't have a pretty picture of me on hand.

Also- since I've got your attention, the show Bedroom Farce is closing tonight and you should absolutely check it out. Shameless plug, but it's very funny.
